At LILLY PILLY, we choose fabrics that are as kind to the planet as they are beautiful to wear.

Our core fabric is EUROPEAN FLAX™ certified linen, known for its timeless aesthetic and minimal environmental footprint. Linen requires significantly less water and pesticides than cotton or polyester, and is fully biodegradable and compostable.

We produce our own linen fabric. The unparalleled quality of our linen can be attributed to our exclusive loom technology as well as the high quality EUROPEAN FLAX™. Flax plants grown in the region are known for producing extra-long fibres, thanks to the unique climate conditions in the European continent, the mineral-rich silty soil and generations of farming expertise. As a result, our linen is remarkably strong yet notably soft and breathable. Every thread is sustainable, traceable, and crafted to last.

Beyond linen, we also love working with other natural fibres including bluesign® certified silk, lightweight cotton, extra-fine merino wool, and luxurious cashmere. Our commitment extends to the finer details - we use Corozo buttons which are 100% natural, made from the seeds of palm trees that grow abundantly in South America.

Every material we select reflects our principle of sustainability, resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and consumer safety.

ETHICAL PRODUCTION & SUPPLY CHAIN

Our manufacturing partner is located in Jiaxing, China - one of the world’s leading textile hubs renowned for premium textile manufacturing.

With a rich heritage in silk and fabric weaving, the region combines generations of craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Skilled artisans and advanced mills work side by side to produce fabrics and clothing of exceptional quality. Today, Jiaxing is also at the forefront of sustainable production, investing in cleaner energy, water recycling, and responsible practices, making it a trusted source for premium and sustainable textiles worldwide.

We are proud to partner with a like-minded manufacturer who shares our commitment to caring for people and the planet. Their focus includes fair wages, safe and inclusive workplaces, skill development, and continuous innovation in sustainable production.

Our manufacturing partner is fully certified and continues to invest in the highest global sustainability standards, including:

  • Bluesign® – protecting the environment and workers by eliminating harmful chemicals.
  • Global Recycled Standard (GRS) – guaranteeing recycled content and responsible processing.
  • Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) – promoting animal welfare and land stewardship in wool sourcing.
  • Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) – ensuring organic integrity, from fibre to finished garment.
  • Organic 100 Content Standard (OCS) – verifying the exact percentage of organic fibres in the fabric.

Together, these certifications ensure every step of production meets strict environmental, ethical, and quality benchmarks.

ENERGY USE & CARBON REDUCTION

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact at every stage:

  • 30% of production energy is generated from solar power.
  • Harmful sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions have been eliminated by replacing coal-fired boilers with cleaner natural gas systems.
  • Innovative 3D virtual design technology has reduced carbon emissions per garment from 1,500kg to just 15kg.
